Glashedy Exhibition

Exhibition of paintings by : Caroline Doran, Leo Doherty, Reggie Temple, Angela Doherty, Eddie Lynch, Michael Roddy, Gloria O'Connor and David Fahy

The idea for this exhibition was born in David Fahy's Recreational Art Class on a Wednesday evening some time ago. Many students in the class have a love of painting the wild rugged landscapes of Donegal. Glashedy is a uninhabited island one mile off Pollan Bay, Ballyliffin in the Inishowen Peninsula. The island is mostly rock with an expanse of green on top, hence the name : Glashedy or Gláis éidigh meaning green garment or cloak. The sea surrounding it is quite shallow giving rise to the impressive waves which crash ashore giving it a very appealing painterly view. This exhibition paints a variety of views of Glashedy with many interpretations of the ever changing and often dramatic Donegal skies.
